Until I ever hear anything that does a better job at eliminating these bias noises i'm sold on what the snr can do. When done properly this just does not happen. I included a pic or two of the Dbx unit so you can see they are same,but to be clear this has dak bsr label on it.
This unit is in great shape, still has the rubber feet, but I installed rack ears for my studio without damaging. But make no mistake they do work flawlessly. Shipping is to the lower 48 us states only unless arrangements are made prior buying, or using global service. I get so tired this blanket statement of, oh no don't reduction because shaves off high frequencies and flattens sound.
Re: Dbx SNR-1, the best choice 4 no hiss I don't hear any compression or artifacts and nothing is lost but sound of. It didn't help matters that they were also expensive technology at the time. When they are dialed in correctly ride the music signal and take out everything over above that, leaving intact without nasty tape hiss.
In a perfect world the bias's of tape and player are match there is no hiss to begin with. And that's my biased opinion based on what i've heard. The downfall to success of snr was never about its ability remove tape hiss successfully, it being introduced into marketplace at around same time as CD which made instantly obsolete.
You are looking at a very nice DAK1 single end noise reduction unit, made by Dbx for the dak bsr label. Maybe its because of misinformation about how it works.
