( Brand: Altec ), ( Model: EQ-252-A ), ( Type: Equalizer ), ( Effect/enhancement: Graphic Equalization ), ( Number Of Channels: 1 ), ( Frequency Bands: 7 ), ( Features: Passive ), ( Modified Item: No ), ( Country/region Of Manufacture: United States )
There are some solder globs on the rear terminals and ground lug is missing one of its tines see photo. Motown engineers used the langevin 252-a in 1960s for their sound, and then built own famous eq units using same circuitry. In many cases much better.
This unit has 5 solder terminals on the rear. Its completely free of hum and noise. This unit is not for repairing bad audio.
In and out impedance's are 600 ohms. It is built for serious studio use no gimmicks, just great results. This is a bridged-t constant-impedance passive circuit and these equalizers are were very expensive to build.
This is a studio equalizer that makes good clean audio sound better. The equipment below it in photos with VI meter, etc, is not part of sale. Insertion loss is 16 db with all bands in the position, so most users add a low-gain preamps.
For the techies: seven bands centered at This is possibly the best, most musical graphic equalizer ever made, and its built like a tank. Important: this equalizer is over 50 years old and was removed in working order from a commercial audio production studio.
Note - this offer is for the equalizer only. Frequency bands interact with subtlety, overlapping to create smooth curves that just sound great. 5 octave intervals provide variable gain from 8 to 8 db at frequencies of 50, 130, 320, 8 20 50 and 12,500 Hz.
No flashing lights, display screens not even a power switch because it doesn need any. It is physically in very good condition as shown by the photos.
It does sound great and all sliders are smooth completely free of noise. The circuitry is totally passive so it doesn require external power. The outside appearance of this equalizer is deceptive.
