Introducing the MC76 Analog FET Compressor Limiter, a high-performance audio processing tool designed to deliver exceptional sound quality and versatility in your recording or mixing environment. This compressor limiter is based on the renowned MC76 microphone preamplifier, which has been a go-to choice for professionals for decades.
The MC76 Analog FET Compressor Limiter is built with the finest Analog FET (Field Effect Transistor) technology, ensuring a warm, natural, and musical compression character. The device provides an intuitive and easy-to-use interface, with control over essential parameters such as Threshold, Attack, Release, Ratio, and Make-Up Gain.
The Threshold control lets you set the level at which compression begins, allowing you to seamlessly manage dynamic range. The Attack control determines how quickly the compression kicks in, ranging from fast for aggressive compression to slow for more subtle and natural compression. The Release control sets the time it takes for the compressor to return to its bypassed state after the input signal drops below the threshold.
The Ratio control determines the degree of compression, with settings ranging from 1:1 (no compression) to 20:1 (extreme compression). The Make-Up Gain control compensates for the loss of level caused by compression, ensuring a consistent output level.
The MC76 Analog FET Compressor Limiter features a side-chain input for external side-chaining, allowing you to apply compression to a specific frequency range or a separate input signal. The device also includes a wet/dry mix control for parallel compression, which can be used to add depth and character to your audio tracks.
The MC76 Analog FET Compressor Limiter is housed in a robust and durable metal chassis, designed to withstand the demands of professional use. The unit features high-quality input and output connectors, ensuring reliable and stable connections. The device is also equipped with an LED meter for visual monitoring of the compression process.
In summary, the MC76 Analog FET Compressor Limiter is a versatile and powerful audio processing tool, perfect for both recording and mixing applications. Its warm, musical compression character, intuitive interface, and professional build quality make it an indispensable addition to any studio setup.

I will keep at it. Andrew at Purple Audio commented: I spent a bunch of time on these again yesterday one is fine, the other has reoccurring problem, it runs great for an hour or so then drops signal. I just tested each of these units out, and as far can tell, neither is functioning properly, although they still pass signal to the outputs. Details follow.
These units are not functioning properly. I'm offering these for sale as-is. By then, both were failing to compress the input signal, although they still pass an output signal. I can't get them to link any more.
Maybe you can figure out how to bring these back life - or perhaps use them for parts. Original owners manuals. When that original input attenuate was discontinued by the manufacturer, Purple re-engineered MC76 as MC77 using a replacement part. I am now in the midst of downsizing.
And hey, the VU meters light up. MC76 was the predecessor to MC77. It was the original model that used same input attenuate as UREI 1176 A-F FET compressor/limiter. Pair of Purple Audio MC76 rack mount compressor/limiters.
