When you do these things with newer digital delay units there is a glitch effect, which is just not the same.

The echo effects are also a little more analog sounding. The sample and trigger mode work together.

The phase output is an inverted effect output for getting a wide stereo delay sound.

All item's over the delay range separates the delay times into 5 groups 2 5ms, 8 32ms, 32 125ms, 125 500ms, 500ms 2sec.

You sample a bit of audio and switch to trigger mode to trigger the sample with a foot switch or the button on the front panel. There are three modes of operation too. For instance, if you adjust the delay time while the unit is repeating it will do the weird pitch warping trick.

If you are familiar with how most delay units work this is a breeze. You can get all kinds of insane pitch shifting repeats by adjusting theses two controls just right.
