The level knobs on front of unit serve as mixers fades, pan controls place channel signal into stereo field. This setup, for me, eliminated the need a wet and dry amplifier setup. As a line level splitter: place one or both input signals into the left and right inputs.
As an effects mixer or line level expanded for a larger mixer, set up the levels and adjust pans. As a six channel mixer: mono in 1 through 6 may be placed on the right or left bus both, any amount.
And the SM26B is most transparent mixer splitter for guitarists, studio artists, or DJ's. The problem with almost all units I bought was tone sucking 'effect' that it had on my original amplifiers sweet. The master output level adjusts overall of mix at outputs. Set the individual channel level controls for proper output.
The master input level control on front adjusts both right and left signal levels together. Rane SM26B mixer splitter: I was a guitar effects unit hunky. Then I read how Alex life son of rush used two Rane SM26B units, one for splitting the original signal from his amplifiers, and other to mix with effects units. Other than a few cosmetic blemishes, they are in excellent sonic and working condition.
These two units were pulled from my backup guitar effects rack. Select the inputs to be placed at each of six mono outs by rotating mix pan control proper position.
