I've owned the newer versions, the smart research c2, dramatic obsidian, and those are all great, but i've sold them all and I kept the greyface because nothing sounds quite like it, very magical what it can do to a finished mix it's the glue and pop and punch, gives it that perfect finishing touch that pulls the track together. This one is in excellent shape and working great.

For sale is an ssl fx G384 stereo compressor grey face I am a home studio hobbyist and am putting up for sale some of my favorite pieces of gear. They are very rare because no one wants to let them go.

The only issue is the in bypass switch is a bit sticky and doesn't work so well, but the issue has never bothered me since I leave this on all the time why would you bypass it sounds so good. I imagine it would be a simple fix is disassembling the button for a cleaning. I have three of these and decided to cut back, they are the only compressors i've kept and I use them on everything with great success, vocals, drums, bass.
