Review SOUND SKULPTOR Tape Saturation 500
The TS500 can simulate a tape recorder rolling at 3 different speeds: 7. Very heavy for a 500-series unit, it has couple of massive transformers inside. The effect provides roundness, punch, compression and saturation of magnetic tape.
In 100 perfect working order and Sounds awesome. Really does the tape head bump thing nicely, and theres a lot of room to vary Sound with different speeds eq settings. Each speed gives a different frequency response. It has been adapted to the api 500 format with a number of enhancements.
The tape can be chosen between 3 formulations giving levels of saturation from light to heavy. 5 UPS, 15 UPS and 30. The TS500 tape simulator is successor or stereo.
It is an analog processor that recreates the sonic imprint of vintage tape recorders. The TS500 includes electronics of a vintage tape recorder with input transformer, variable gain stage, pre-emphasis recording amplifier, constant current driven head, playback nab de-emphasis stage and pure class output driving transformer. It is a mono unit, two are used for stereo.
